Upstate Artists Guild together with Hudson Valley Writers Guild are holding their fifth Poetic License exhibition bringing artists and writers together for a celebration of inspiration, storytelling and visual expression. Artists create works in any medium inspired by poems curated by the HVWG. I chose this poem as inspiration for my painting, "Moon Rise".
Blue is a Big Color
We look into indigo eyes and see things that aren't there
Not everything pretty is good
Blue is a hard birth
There's blue and there's that blue
A greenish-blue harsh blue
Leper blue groans and you decay
Lonely blue
Blue is serene
Aquamarine
Blue is recessive and
Once in a blue moon it isn't that hard
Bluestocking bookish crescent-shaped colonial blue
Commercial blue
Blue is a loyal sentinel
The last one off the field
Blue is night and blue is morning
Ultraviolet dangerous blue
Everything you see is miles and miles of blue
